F-20 Tigershark

The F-20 Tigershark was a supersonic jet fighter aircraft developed by Northrop Corporation from the F-5E Tiger II, and this in turn from the F-5 Freedom Fighter. The prototype of the F-20 performed its first flight on August 30, 1982. Although Northrop had high hopes for the F-20 Tigershark in the international market, changes in policy during the Ronald Reagan Administration left the F-20 competing for sales with front line fighters like the F-16. As a result, the development program was eventually abandoned in 1986 after three prototypes had been built and a fourth partially completed.
