French Air Strikes on ISIS Targets in Syria

On November 15, 2015, two days after the Islamist terrorist attacks in Paris, the French Air Force (Armée de l’Air) carries out bombing missions to destroy ISIS camps and strongholds in the Syrian city of Raqqa. Twelve French Dassault Rafale  and Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft are being employed in the Syrian campaign against terror. More than 35 smart bombs have been dropped so far.

The French bombing of Islamist terrorist command posts and training camps in Raqqa is in retaliation for the ISIS’ attacks in Paris on November 13, in which more than 130 people were murdered. The French aircraft carrier Charles-de-Gaulle is sailing from Toulon to the Syrian and Lebanese coasts next week; her 24 Rafale fighters will join the bombing campaign already under way.
