The GBU-27 Paveway III is a smart bomb developed by Raytheon from the GBU-24 for the USAAF. Dropped from the F-117 Nighthawk, Tornado, and Typhoon aircraft, it is laser-guided and is armed with a BLU-109/B warhead, which is capable of penetrating through 8-meter-thick reinforced concrete. It weighs 900 kg (2000lb). The GBU-27 was used during Operation Desert Storm (1991) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003). "GBU" stands for "Guided Bomb Unit".
