The L118 is a 105mm light gun in service with the British Army since 1976. It has been deployed and used in combat in the Falklands War (1982), Iraq (2003), and Afghanistan (2002-2007). The L118 has a 2.70m-long barrel and a maximum range of 18 km (11 miles). Mounted on a two-wheeled box trail carriage, it fires 15.1 kg High Explosive shells, with a rate of fire of 7 rounds per minute. It is used in indirect and direct fire, to provide support to spearhead infantry units. It is equipped with a hydro-pneumatic recoil system and weighs 1.9 tons. The Light Gun is towed by trucks and can be dropped by parachute.
