Lee-Metford Rifle

The Lee-Metford M1888 was a 7.7mm-caliber, bolt-action rifle, which was in service with the British Army between 1888 and 1927. The chamber had a dust cover and fired .303 Mk I black-powder ammunition. The Lee-Metford was an accurate weapon; fitted with a 30.2 in (76.2cm) long barrel, it had a maximum range of 1,700 m. With its fixed, 10-round box magazine, it weighed 4.1 kg. The Lee-Metford was used in the Second Boer War and World War I.
