The handshake between Barack Hussein Obama and Raul Castro, the dictator of Cuba, on April 11, 2015, means the greatest act of hypocricy in US foreign policy history. Fidel and his brother Raul have been in power for more than fifty years, much longer than Adolf Hitler and Stalin, systematically violating human rights by having shot, tortured, and emprisoned without legal trial anybody suspected of carrying out any activity against the regime. It seems to follow the tradition of great acts of phoniness conducted by Democratic presidents, who seem to measure the badness of dictators around the world with different measuring tapes of morality; during their presidential terms some tyrants have been bombed out of power, either by CIA-promoted internal chaos or by direct military intervention, others have been given handshakes or they just turned a blind eye on them or their criminal acts.
Let us not forget that it was a Democratic president, Woodrow Wilson, who urged the Allies in 1919 to deprive Germany of a big chunk of her territory to create Poland and grant this new nation a strip of land so that it could have deep ports on the Baltic Sea. This stirred in deep resentment in the minds and hearts of the German population, most of which would give their support to the Nazi Party in the 1930s. It required a World War to bomb Adolf Hitler and the Japanese right wing military out of power, killing millions of human beings during the fire bombings of Hamburg, Dresden, Tokyo, and Osaka; and it was under another Democratic president administration (Harry Truman) that two attomic bombs were dropped on two Japanese cities, which had no military targets, because, without them, it would cost the lives of 500,000 American soldiers and, with it, Harry Truman presidency when he ran for president on his own. And this Democratic president would fire Douglas MacArthur seven years later when this US Army’s General came up with a plan to win the Korean War once and for all; instead, Truman preferred to let the communist dictator, Mao Tse-tung, stay in power in China, where millions of Chinese would starve to death in the great famines and political crackdowns of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution policies respectively, in the 1960s and 1970s.
It was two Democratic presidents who got the United States involved in Vietnam; John F Kennedy and Lyndon Bain Johnson, who ordered heavy bombings of South and North Vietnam between 1964 and 1969. But it was a Republican president who withdrew gradually all American troops from Southeast Asia, undertaking the Vietnamization policy. However Richard Nixon would be harassed by the Democrats and the left-oriented press by the Water Gate scandal until he was forced to resign to avoid being impeached. Planting microphones in the Democratic Party building was legally insignificant compared to today’s Obama crackdown policy using the IRS to extort the political oposition in his own country by eavesdropping and molesting, just like a dictator would, or the Islamic terrorist attack on the American embassy cover-up, in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.
If the Democratic Senators and Representatives showed great hostility against Richard Nixon, President Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter would turn a blind eye on the Cambodian dictator, Pol Pot, who established a pure form of communism in Cambodia, massacring more than one and half millon people in concentration camps. Even when this butcher was ousted from power when the Vietnamese Army invaded de country in 1979, Jimmy Carter did not move an inch to put international pressure to have him tried and executed, just like the Nazi leaders were in Nuremberg. Instead, this Democratic president devoted much effort to harass the Latin American governments with his hypocritical human right policy speaking out in support of Marxist terrorist guerrillas leaders who planted bombs everywhere, kidnapping businessmen and murdering politicians and military personnel. Jimmy had forgotten that, when the political party he belonged to was in Office, leveled Vietnam with bombing campaigns and burning and relocating peasants villages in Southeast Asia.
So, the meaning of Obama’s handshake is an act of two-faced, political moral standard, by which the White House will be turning a blind eye on the Castro brothers hideous crimes against humanity. And, I am sure, he will let Fidel and Raul Castro and the high-ranking Cuban ministers get away with it, just because they are leftist. He will grant a pardon to these guys in exchange of what? Thousands of Cuban refugees living in American and Europe will resent it deeply and consider it an act of great treason. Just the type of treason Obama performed when he turned his back on Israel by initiating political negotiation with Iran over his nuclear policy and the agreement they reached without Iran recognizing the legal existence of the State of Israel.
