The TRF1 is a 155mm field howitzer developed by GIAT Industries, entering service with the French 11th Marine Infantry Regiment in 1989, and with the French Army 68th Artillery Regiment in 1990 as it was first used in combat in the Gulf War (1991). Fitted with a 6.2m-long barrel, it fires 155mm-caliber High-Explosive shells up to 15 miles away (24km), and up to 18 miles when using long range ammunition. The TRF1 weighs 19 tons and is towed by truck, mounted on a two-wheeled split-trail carriage. Elevation: -6º to +66º. Rate of fire: 6 rounds per minute.
